London, Jan 7 : Ace striker Fernando Torres is all set to write his own chapter in the Liverpool record books after blasting his way the fastest 50 league goals in the club’s history.
Torres brought up his half-century in 72 games, beating Albert Stubbins and Sam Raybould’s joint-best by eight matches.
The Spaniard’s last-minute winner at Aston Villa nine days ago took him to the fastest 50 league goals in Liverpool history.
“It’s unbelievable for me because Liverpool is one of the biggest and most historic clubs in the world. All those who’ve played here are top players who have massive records,’ The Sun quoted Torres, as saying.
“I am ahead of them on this one now and it is one of the most important things I’ve done in my career. But I want to keep breaking these records so I am always in the books and in the memories of the people. I am just doing my job,” he said.
Despite his battle to beat hamstring and groin injuries, 25-year-old Torres has still bagged 12 goals in just 14 Premier League starts.
“I want as many goals as we need to get fourth spot in the Premier League and to win the FA Cup. I never say the number of goals I’m after but I always like to score more than the season before. Hopefully, that won’t be difficult because I got 17 last season,” he said. (ANI)
