Tottenham agree deal to sign Brazil goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes

London  - Juande Ramos's revolution of the Tottenham Hotspur team is set to continue with the signing of Brazil goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes from PSV Eindhoven, it was announced on Friday.

The 27-year-old, capped five times for his country, has agreed to join Spurs, subject to the player agreeing personal terms, passing a medical examination and obtaining his work permit.

Gomes helped PSV to win their fourth straight Dutch league title last season, conceding just 24 goals in 34 league games.

His arrival at Tottenham is sure to cast doubt on the future of former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who lost his place as the number one last season.

Gomes is Ramos's second significant summer signing after the news that Mexico international Giovani Dos Santos joined from Barcelona for an initial fee of 4.7 million pounds (9.3 million dollars).

In April, Croatia midfielder Luka Modric signed for Spurs for 16.5 million pounds, and will join up with his new team-mates for pre-season training. (dpa)
