Rio de Janeiro - Argentina may have trounced Brazil in the Beijing Olympics, but Brazil coach Carlos Dunga said Monday he was confident his job was not in jeopardy.
After arriving in Sao Paulo from Beijing with a disappointing bronze, Dunga scotched rumours that he was likely to be sacked.
Brazil lost 3-0 to arch rival and defending champion Argentina in the semifinals, and then beat Belgium 3-0 in the match for third place.
"I am very calm. I know I am doing my job well," Dunga told reporters at Guarulhos airport.
"And in case anything changes, I know there are good professionals, like (Vanderlei) Luxemburgo, who played one edition of the Games with a year to prepare ... but did not manage to win a medal."
Dunga said Luxemburgo had a year to prepare for Sydney 2000, while he had only 15 days to get ready for Beijing 2008.
Luxemburgo is a potential candidate for coach of the team that has won five editions of the World Cup but not a single Olympic gold. (dpa)
