London -
Manchester United completed their long pursuit of striker Dimitar Berbatov just before the transfer window closed, it emerged Tuesday.
Tottenham have confirmed they were paid 30.75 million pounds (55 million dollars), with United forward Fraizer Campbell joining them in a year-long loan deal.
"This is a key signing," United manager Alex Ferguson told the club's website. "Dimitar is one of the best and most exciting strikers in world football.
"His style and ability will give the team a different dimension and I am sure he will be a popular player with the fans."
The 27-year-old Bulgarian made little secret of his desire to move to Old Trafford.
"Joining Manchester United is a dream come true for me," he said. "I look forward to playing my part in helping this club win more honours in the years to come." (dpa)
