Madrid - Veteran striker Albert Luque is to be released by Dutch giants Ajax, and is keen to return to the Spanish Liga.
According to the digital version of Marca on Thursday, Luque has already been told by Ajax technical director Danny Blind that he is not wanted for next season, when the Amsterdam club will be coached by Marco van Basten.
The career of Luque, 30, has gone downhill since joining Newcastle United from Deportivo Coruna in 2005. Newcastle sold him on to Ajax in 2007, but the Catalan forward - who went to the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004 with Spain - has failed to impress in Amsterdam. (dpa)
