Warne’s chat show gets mixed response

Warne’s chat show gets mixed response Melbourne, Nov 25 : Telecast of the Spin King Shane Warne’s new chat show received accolades from critics but a lukewarm response from Twitter-users.

The former Aussie bowler has a knockabout charm that brought out the best in his guests. By being friendly and sincere, Warne was able to show the new sides to the usually media-shy James Packer and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

"I''ve never been this nervous," News. com. au quoted Warne as he started the first live segment.

Warne''s chat with Packer, who usually cuts an intimidating figure, was in fact intriguing, thanks to their close friendship.

The interview threatened to turn into a mutual admiration society at the start but a relaxed Packer soon opened up.

"I am the luckiest guy in Australia to be my father''s son," he said.

“Even when I am having a bad moment, my worst day is still probably better than some people''s best day,” said Packer.

Warne''s interview with Martin was borderline weird but in a good way, in which Martin spoke on cricket, surfing, music and even Tim Tams.

However, not everything was appreciated and the cricket commentator puppet segments and other comedy skits were lame. While Warne seemed to have overcome first night jitters, some Twitter fans were not so kind in their views.

One user, Eleanor Twigby wrote, "WHY DOES SHANE WARNE HAVE A SHOW? This is one of those embarrassing-to-Australia things. Please don''t let him keep talking to cool people."

Warne himself tweeted he thought he did all right for his first attempt despite first show nerves.

He wrote, "Appreciate the support of all the crew and everyone at 9 for helping me get through it as I was very nervous... Hope you enjoyed it gnite !"

"Thanks guys for all your feedback glad you liked the show. I thought it went well for my first ever effort will hopefully improve.” (ANI)
