London, Feb 9 : Formula One driver Mark Webber has hailed Red Bull's new car as `competitive' and rejected suggestions that the car wouldn't be a title-contender this season. Webber covered 97 laps on the second of the four days allocated for the first F1 test for the new season. "The car was pretty competitive in winter testing last year and it''s the same again this year," The Mirror quoted Webber, as saying.
He stressed on working hard and the need to keep on improving. "We know that Ferrari and McLaren will be there and Mercedes don''t have a car yet but will bring it to Barcelona. We feel that we are prepared to do well, but we have to keep improving. Overall, there are no big surprises with the car," he added. Webber also seemed confident about his new car's abilities.
"We have an idea of what the car can do in terms of time. You are always anxious and nervous still. We are a long way from Melbourne and can''t get excited about things today. The team is massively experienced and we don''t get hooked up in winter testing anticipation," he said. (ANI)
