London, Apr 4 : Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has set his sights on overtaking Arsenal after City’s boosted their top-four hopes by routing Sunderland.
City is three points behind the second-placed Arsenal. Mancini said: “We can be runners-up. Why not? It was important for us to win this game for many reasons - we went into third position.”
“Now we are only three points off Arsenal, while Chelsea are behind us - although it’s true they have a game in hand. It was an important weekend - a big weekend will be when we win something,” The Sun quoted Mancini, as saying.
Adam Johnson, Carlos Tevez, David Silva, Patrick Vieira and Yaya Toure all scored in City’s best performance of the season.
City’s performance will make Alex Ferguson worried before the all-Manchester FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
Mancini said: “Will he be worried? I don’t know. He knows that the FA Cup semi-final is just one game and anything can happen. He knows us very well, just as we know United.”
“It’s possible this will give us a big confidence boost but it’s important we continue like this and go to win at Liverpool next Monday. I think we can improve,” he said. (ANI)
