West Ham to give trial to Spanish veteran Tristan

West Ham to give trial to Spanish veteran Tristan Madrid  - Premier League club West Ham United will give a trial to veteran Spanish striker Diego Tristan, according to Madrid sports daily AS on Tuesday.

Tristan, 32, is looking for a new club after flopping at Livorno, where he scored just one goal in 21 games.

Tristan has been linked with a move to England in the past and he is now hoping to impress new West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola.

Zola is keen to strengthen his forward line after losing star striker Dean Ashton until January through injury.

Tristan won 15 caps for Spain between 2000 and 2002, and was Liga top scorer in 2002 when starring for Deportivo Coruna.

He had joined Deportivo from Mallorca in 2000. Tristan was first-choice for Spain at the 2002 World Cup finals but failed to impress in Korea and faded from the international scene afterwards. (dpa)
