Denpasar, Indonesia - WTA players have the chance to qualify for a 1-million-dollar bonus at the end of the new Road to Bali from next November at a revamped event which will mark the end of the season for International series winners in 2009.
The 12-woman round-robin tournament will be limited to the 10 highest-ranked players who claim second-tier International titles during the season, plus two wild card entries.
Any player who lifts three International trophies during the year and then wins the November 4-8 wrap-up in Bali will walk away with an extra 1 million dollars.
"We are delighted that one of the most popular locations on the tour has been chosen Tournament of Champions," said tournament director Kevin Livesey.
"Bali has long attracted many of the top players, and now we can look forward to welcoming both established names and those who are beginning to make a major impact on the game.
"The prospect of a million-dollar bonus will guarantee excitement throughout the year as players compete in the International Series as part of their Road To Bali campaign."
Entries into Bali will be limited to player who do not qualify for the season-ending WTA Championships to be staged in Doha in late 2009.
Bali will feature a robin singles format (four groups of three players), and offer 600,000 dollars in prize money. (dpa)
