Younis denies fissures in team led to his self-imposed exile

Brisbane, Jan. 21 : Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has rebuked reports about any fissures in the team which led to his short self-imposed exile from international cricket.

Khan stressed that he was in dire need of rest after having a hectic schedule in the recent past, which was the prime factor behind him stepping down from the captaincy.

“If you look at my last four or five years it has just been back-to-back travelling and I was just tired and I missed my family. That was the main reason for me leaving. I needed some time for myself and my family. I’ve got that and now I am back and I feel energetic,” The Daily Times quoted Khan, as saying.

Khan, who has joined the squad in Australia for the forthcoming one-day series, hopes to play some big innings to help his team win the series and revive his sagging career.

The classy middle order batsman, who had opted out of the New Zealand tour in November last year, said he would give his all to help Pakistan do well in the one-day series starting in Brisbane from January 22. (ANI)
