Yousuf wants PCB’s explanation for exclusion from Pak team before comeback

Yousuf wants PCB’s explanation for exclusion from Pak team before comebackLahore, Oct 27: Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has said that he is available to play for the country if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) informs him the reason behind his exclusion from the national team.

"I am ready to represent Pakistan in any format of the game, but first the PCB should tell me the reasons why I am out of the national side," the Dawn quoted Yousuf, as saying.

Yousuf, a veteran of 90 Tests and 287 One-day Internationals, said that he would request the new PCB chief, Zaka Ashraf, to enquire the cause of his omission from the Pakistan team from the selection committee.

"The new PCB chairman, Zaka Ashraf, is to take charge in few days. I will request him to ask the selectors why I am not part of the team," he said.

When asked why he was not playing in the country's ongoing premier domestic event, the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, to prove his form and fitness, Yousuf replied: "Why I should play domestic cricket when I am not aware of the reasons of my exclusion?"

Yousuf, who has scored 7,530 runs in Tests and 9,717 runs in one-dayers, was recalled for Pakistan's series against England a few months after he had announced his retirement from international cricket in March 2010 in protest against the PCB's attitude towards him.

Later, his name was included in the 30 probables for the ICC World Cup 2011, and he was asked to prove his fitness to get his name in the final line-up, but he went to Bangladesh to play league matches.

Yousuf was also appointed captain of the Lahore Lions team for the last National Twenty20 Cup, but he refused to play. (ANI)
