Islamabad, Feb. 12 : In a major embarrassment to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt, President Asif Ali Zardari has postponed his meeting with him after summoning him urgently from Dubai.
Butt left a high level International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting to meet Zardari.
On his return, Butt was told the President had no time to meet him.
“The meeting has been postponed, we don’t know the reasons. You must check it with the Presidency staff who first scheduled it and then postponed it,” a PCB spokesperson told media persons here.
A Presidency official said the meeting was postponed as Zardari had other important matters to look into.
Insiders said the sudden postponement of the meeting has Butt pondering as to why the Presidency summoned him back from Dubai in the first place.
“Presidency’s call in Dubai did not go well with him and then the postponement of the meeting was more unpleasant. He is unable to digest why he was hurriedly called back from the middle of the ICC meeting and why the President postponed the meeting after his arrival back,” The Daily Times quoted sources, as saying.
