Stress causing acne among successful women

Stress causing acne among successful womenAccording to a new study, acne has become a skin problem especially among successful women, who face a lot of stress in their lives.

Dermatologists at Nantes University Hospital said that acne now affects women from their mid-twenties. The study found that about half of the women now have problems with spots in adult life even as they did not have a problem with acne as teenagers.

Some suggest that the women are facing more stress today then earlier generations and this tress releases male hormones that results in more oil production and block pores. The researchers found that adult acne was different to the teenage version as adults were most likely to get affected around the "T-zone" of the chin, nose and forehead.

They also observed that women above midtwenties got persistent spots that were found to be deeper in their skins. Women were found to be three times more likely to have acne problem as their skin is more sensitive to male hormones.

Susannah Baron, of the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, said: "It's time to re-evaluate who we think gets acne. It's not recognized enough how much it affects the lives of adult women. For many, it kicks in later in life when they have to juggle families and careers at the same time."
