Super-Speciality Hospital To Be Set Up In Himachal PradeshThe Centre government has given nod to establish a super-speciality hospital at Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College (RPMC) at Tanda in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district.

Himachal Health Minister Rajiv Bindal stated that the hospital will be set up with a total outlay of Rs 150 crore.

HP Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will jointly lay the foundation stone of the hospital.

As per reports, the hospital will be well-equipped to provide advanced facilities in the field of neurosurgery and cardiology.

For the new hospital, to be established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Surksha Yojna, Rs 125 crore will come from central government and the remaining sum will come from Himachal government.

Mr. Bindal said that the new hospital would start functioning by 2012.

The state administration had also demanded the MCI and the Union Health Ministry to double up the number of MBBS seats in Tanda Medical College from 50 to 100.
