Tamil Nadu pollution board to speed up industrial clearances

Mohideen KhanChennai, Dec 4 : The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) will speed up the process of issuing permission letters to industries once its procedures are computerised in a month's time, state Environment Minister T. P. M. Mohideen Khan said Friday.

Speaking at a function here, he said: "The TNPCB will complete computerisation of its operations within a month, which will speed up the process of issuing permissions to investors."

He said the pollution control board has set up a help counter at its headquarters to assist the investors on the sanctions to be obtained. The counter will act as single window clearance for industries to be set in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts.

The TNPCB will give its sanction within 30 days in case of industries classified under "red category", 15 days for "orange category" and 10 days for "green category".(IANS)
