Tata Docomo to cover entire South India region under GSM network soonTata Docomo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited, has announced the roll out of GSM services in Orissa Telecom circle, after successfully launching similar services in the Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Kerala circles earlier this month. The company, having license to operate in 20 out of total of 22 telecom circles of India, has set a target to cover entire southern region within next 10 days.

The company, a strategic alliance between Tata Teleservices and Japanese telecom giant, NTT Docomo, will invest around Rs 350 crore for GSM operations in Orissa state, covering 390 towns and 14,303 villages in next couple of months. NTT Docomo holds 26 per cent stake in Tata Teleservices.

Anil Kumar Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Teleservices said: "Tata Docomo has earmarked an investment of $2 billion for its pan-India GSM services out of which Rs
350 crore is the investment on the Orissa circle."

The company will roll out services in Kolkata, West Bengal, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh circles by August end and aims to expand its pan India presence by October this year, with the exception of Jammu & Kashmir and North-East.

Deepak Gulati, president of Tata Docomo said: "In a market that is cluttered with many operators and throws up confusing options, we will offer simplicity to the consumers by being the country's most transparent, innovative and liberating telecom brand."
