Three-tier security for Haryana counting centres

Chandigarh, Oct 20: Fool-proof arrangements, including those for security, have been made for counting of votes Thursday for 90 assembly seats in Haryana held Oct 13.

The counting would commence at 8 a. m. on Oct 22 at 90 counting centres, Haryana chief electoral officer Sajjan Singh said here Tuesday.

Singh said a three-tier cordoning system would be set up to prevent unauthorised entry inside the counting centres. The innermost cordon would be manned by central forces.

He said cellular phones, cordless phones, wireless sets and other communication equipment would not be allowed in counting centres and in the area cordoned off by security forces.

Singh said no unauthorised person would be allowed in the counting halls. Ministers, MPs, Members of Legislative Assembly and other people having security cover would not be allowed as counting agents.

He said magistrates would be posted at the entrance to control crowd and regulate entry.

Elections to the 90-member assembly were held Oct 13. The fate of 1,222 candidates has been sealed in the electronic voting machines (EVMs). (IANS)
