Washington, Sept 18: A set of Harry Potter books signed by author JK Rowling is set to go under the hammer for charity next Monday on online auction site eBay.

Books Abroad, which is marking its 25th anniversary with a fundraising ball, provides these books to schoolchildren across the world, and estimates that the autographed series will raise at least 20,000 pounds.

"No other complete set of signed Harry Potter books is available in the world at the moment," Contactmusic quoted the charity, as saying.

The upcoming movie of Mumbai based Mirchi Productions (MP), Hari Puttar, is similar to Warner Bros Harry Potter and therefore the latter had earlier filed a case against the former on the account of copyright violation. But on Monday, the case was dismissed by Delhi High Court.

The court clarified that even if there are structural or phonetic similarities in the words “Harry Potter” and “Harry Puttar,” there still is a lot of difference between the two.

Nach Baliye 4 will see 12 couples dancing to win the title of ‘Nach Baliye.’

On Thursday; the News Broadcasting Standards (Disputes Redressal) Authority, was formally launched by private news broadcasters’ association-News Broadcasters Association (NBA), which marked their first step towards self-regulation.

This authority will function as an independent regulator and if in case the content being aired by its member broadcasters is not according to its code of conduct and broadcasting standards, then it will deal with the complaints against the broadcasters. The authority is being chaired by former Chief Justice of India, JS Verma. 

The Authority will consist of former Nasscom president Kiran Karnik, economist Nitin Desai, sociologist Deepankar Gupta and historian Ramachandra Guha as its ‘eminent’ members. 

Drona with all its action, fantasy, star cast and computer generated graphics couldn’t create much impression on the audience. The story is very predictable. The screenplay is not convincing. 

It seems that the big corporates these days do not hesitate to invest big money for the production of Bhojpuri films. Mahindra and Mahindra, entertainment arm, Mumbai Mantra, is all set to come up with 10 films over the next one year. These would include five Hindi, one English/Hollywood and four regional titles. Balan who marked her presence at the jewellery show appreciating the young genre of film directors said that the Indian cinema is a lot about experimenting these days and she would like to be cast in a ''different kind of role''.

She had shot to fame and won the best Filmfare Debut award and Face of the Year for the critically acclaimed Bollywood film ''Parineeta'' in 2006.

Lolo, who last made a small screen appearance in the television series ‘Karishma: A Miracle of Destiny’, said, “The gap between films and television has reduced. All my colleagues, including Akshay Kumar are doing television shows. So, when this was offered it did not take much of my time to decide.”

The latest: after delivering superhit OSO at the box-office, King Khan’s Red Chilles Entertainment is all set to come up with an investment of Rs 100 crore for rolling out three movies later this year. This whopping amount includes a Rs 60-crore film with computer-generated special effects and two medium-budget films, each with a budget of Rs 20-25 crore. 

Speaking on Rs 60 crore film project, King Khan said, “We will finalise the script, cast and director for the two medium-budget films by this month.”

A team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vishwas Nangre-Patil, raided a pub, Bombay 73 degrees East, and detained 239 youths who were part of a rave party. According to the law any person in possession of drugs or having consumed drugs can be arrested. 239 youths were caught red-handed in the act, although 9 have been charged with possesing, selling drugs, the others have been sent for urine and blood tests and if found guilty, shall be booked by the police. 

Oscar Winning director Steven Spielberg has broken business ties with Paramount pictures and is all set to start a new venture with Anil Ambani's Reliance, and will make 6 films in a year. The top executives of Dream Works, David Gaffen, Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider were close to finalizing the new project. 

Dreamworks was started by Spielberg and David Gaffen in 1994 with Katzenberg, but sold it in 2006 to Viacom, Paramount’s Parent.  

Geffen will not be part of the new venture, according to a statement by Paramount and Dreamworks.

Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are ready to shoot their upcoming flick titled, ‘Ravan’ with ace film maker Mani Ratnam, in a forest near the Athirapally waterfalls in Kerala. 

The shooting of the film with other actors has already begun, and the pair will join them soon.

A source said that Ratnam is settling the film locations, and the shoot will begin sometime next week. 

The Athirapally waterfall is Mani’s best-loved site. Previously, he shot portions of the Dil Se song, Jiya Jale and the Guru song, Barso re at the same place.

The King Khan has announced his new venture, a real estate development that will bear his signature style and will come up at Dana Island off the Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The property to be named as Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard, will cost around 8-billion dirham ($2.2-billion).

The real estate project encompassing three million square feet will have one and two bedroom apartments, a studio, underwater discotheque, a public square on the beach and a theatre. It will be designed by a renowned architect, Toni Ashai.

Music maestro Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra will give concerts from October 7 to 12 in Mumbai at the National Theatre of Performing Arts and the Brabourne Stadium. These concerts have been organized by the Mehli Mehta Foundation on the birth centenary of Zubin’s father and musician Mehli Mehta. 

Some of the biggest names in western classical music like Placido Domingo, Daniel Barenboim and Barbara Fritolli have been invited to perform in these concerts.

Multi-talented superstar Hrithik Roshan tore a ligament in his ankle while shooting for his upcoming home production ‘Kites’ in Las Vegas in US.  

The injury took place on the same leg on which Hrithik suffered a 10 cm ligament tear while shooting for action-oriented flick ‘Krrish.’ 

Hrithik had flown off to Singapore for treatment. Afterward he returned to do an item number for their home production ‘Krazzy 4’ subsequent to which his injury worsened.

On his 66th birthday, Bollywood shenshah Amitabh Bachchan has been admitted to Lilavati hospital because of abdominal pain and breathlessness. 

The group of doctors named his condition as ‘incisional hernia’ in the small intestine, and said they are positive about his condition. 

The disease means complications from an earlier operation in 2005, when Big B had diverticulitis or swelling in his large intestine.

Physicians are dealing the problem with medicine in order to avoid surgical treatment.

Renowed Kathak promoter and guru, Rohini Bhate passes away died in Pune on Friday.

Suffering from the Parkinson's disease for the last five years, Bhate condition deteriorated at his residence on Friday night, the family sources said. She was 84.

Her daughter-in-law Shama Bhate said, “Bhate had been suffering from Parkinson’s for the last ten years. She was ill for the last two-and-a-half months.”

Ace Bollywood singer, Himesh Reshammiya said that ‘Ek Haseena Thi’ is the first song that he sung without nasal voice.

Himesh said, “Yes, the song 'Ek Haseena Thi' is the first song I have sung without any nasal twang. Since it was a Kishore Kumar song, I did not change its style.”

“Normally, I sing songs in high octave. That gives it a nasal twang, but for this song, I sang in medium octave,” he explained.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court directed the news channel, NDTV to produce the original footage of the sting operation they conducted in BMW case on the reputed lawyers R K Anand and I U Khan. The court asked to bring forth the material used in the operation such as computerized chips and other relevant evidences.

The bench which gave the verdict was comprised of three judges, Justices B N Aggrawal, G S Singhvi and Aftab Alam. The case was bought to the apex court's notice when the senior counsel Altaf Ahmed defending Anand said that the alleged tapes were tampered with and was a controversy to defame him and Khan.

Seventh edition of Asian film festival was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Thursday evening. 80 films from 20 asian countries as well as from Palestine and Egypt will be screened during 8-day festival. The festival began with the screening of Chinese film "Tuya's marriage" at the Y B Chavan centre.

Deepa Bhatia (Taare Zameen Par (2007) and Rock On (2008)) will now do the final edit of Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj. The Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Zayed Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Yuvvraaj is scheduled to be released in November.

Four Tops lead singer Levi Stubbs Jr., 72, passed away on Friday, at his home in Detroit after a spate of health problems, including cancer and a stroke that brought his performing career to an end in 2002.

Stubbs is survived by Clineice, his wife of 48 years, five children and 11 grandchildren.

Los Angeles - Richard Blackwell, the former actor and model who became the scourge of the fashion world with his annual list of "worst dressed" celebrities, has died in hospital at the age of 86, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

His withering evaluations of the fashion sense of movie stars, music icons and European royalty helped turn him into a household name from the 1960s through the '80s.

Some of his earliest barbs targeted style icons like Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor, whose "plump" figures and revealing clothes reminded him of "the rebirth of the zeppelin," he wrote in 1963.

Kevin Cogill, 27 from Los Angeles charged with violating federal copyright law, has pleaded not guilty to placing nine tracks on the website - http://www.antiquiet.com, from rock band - Guns N' Roses upcoming and as yet, unreleased album called ‘Chinese Democracy’.

If, found guilty, Coghill released on bail, faces 3-years in federal prison and 5-years if it is found that he posted the songs on the Internet for commercial gain.

According to FBI, Cogill posted the 9-songs from the album 10-years in the making on his website in June, though they were removed later.

Washington, Oct 29 : American boy band ‘Jonas Brothers’ are all set to make their feature-starring debut in “Walter the Farting Dog” at 20th Century Fox.

The movie is based on the best-selling series of books by William Kotzwinkle and Glenn Murray, which is being adapted by Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen into a family film, reports Variety magazine.
