Two nurses face dishonesty allegations after hiding patient’s death

Two nurses face dishonesty allegations after hiding patient’s deathTwo nurses in Scotland are facing allegations of dishonestly after they hid the death of a patient and told family members that he wasn't well.

One of the nurse told the daughter of the patient that her father was "not looking very well" even when she knew about the patient's death.

A charge nurse Faye Wilson and staff nurse Ma Jenny Quinto were working at the Beach Court Care Home in Constitution Street, Aberdeen operated by the Four Seasons Health Care.

The two nurses are facing separate allegations of misconduct and are expected to appear before the conduct and competence committee of the Nursing and Midwifery Council in Edinburgh on 9 January.

It is alleged that Wilson did not properly assess or take appropriate action after seeing a male patient in the dining room even after knowing from his condition in the previous 48 hours that he was too unwell to be taken off his bed on 17 May, 2009.

She is also accused of not providing the patient's daughter with the correct condition of her father. She told her that he was "not looking very well" when she knew that the patient had died. She also did not keep an accurate record of the patient's death and argued with Quinto in front of residents and other colleagues.

On the other hand, Quinto is accused of failing to adequately assess Patients condition and taking him to the dining room. She is also accused of failing to ensure that the record made of where Patient had died and failing to act professionally by participating in the argument with Wilson in front of others. A spokeswoman for Four Seasons Health Care said that the company is not ready to make any comments on the matter.
