Two tornadoes spotted by weather services in Kansas

Two tornadoes spotted by weather services in KansasSpotters and police have said that severe storms pummeled central Kansas on Wednesday afternoon, spawning at least two twisters and dropping huge hail stones.

Weather watchers and law enforcement personnel saw two tornadoes, Salinas radio station WSAL has reported.

Hail measured at 4.25 inches fell near Elyria that caused some vehicle and tree damage, the station further said.

The two twisters, one near Lehigh and another near Haven, didn't last long. There were no reports of any damage or injuries, the Wichita Eagle also reported.

A tornado warning for the Wichita area prompted drivers of elementary school buses to pull over so students could seek shelter at nearby schools. Once the warning was lifted, the children re-boarded and the bus drivers resumed their routes, the newspaper said.

Tornadoes were likely in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma, which was struck by deadly funnel clouds Monday, Accuweather. com said.

The weather service further said that tornadoes also were possible in central Texas and the mid-Mississippi Valley. (With Inputs from Agencies)
