Union Government to bring a comprehensive law for sanitation workersNew Delhi, July 23 : Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mukul Wasnik said on Thursday that the government would bring a comprehensive law for the welfare of sanitation workers in the country.

Replying to a debate on the working of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Justice, in the Rajya Sabha, Wasnik said the government would adopt one thousand villages, where the population of Scheduled Caste is more than the other castes and develop them as model villages under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, which was announced in the recent budget.

At the first stage, he said the project would be launched on a pilot basis, which would expand later.

Wasnik informed the House that a sum of rupees five thousand crore would be spent on different developmental schemes of the scheduled castes and added that the scholarships for the students belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, will be increased. (ANI)
