After making its presence felt through products like Linea and Punto in the Indian market, the Italian automaker, Fiat is now looking at options to bring Uno back to the Indian market.
While the company is considering options of bringing the product with a new engine and looks, it is believed that the boxy small car will be able to chart a new success story for the automaker in the Indian market. It may be noted here that the product has already played a vital role in the success of Fiat in its last entry in the Indian market but was discontinued with time.
Though, as compared to the latest entry, Fiat has had a bad time in the Indian market but there is no denying that the Uno was a major pillar in its India strategy.
Notably, the hatchback model was introduced by the global auto major in many markets by the year 1983 but it was introduced by the company in India with former partner Premier Automobiles Ltd (PAL) only in the 1990s. Fiat currently operates in the Indian market in a 50:50 JV with Tata Motors.
