Unseen B&W pics of The Beatles up for grabs

Unseen B&W pics of The Beatles up for grabsLondon, Aug 4 : Previously unseen black and white images of The Beatles taken when the band stayed at a south coast hotel in the mid-60s are up for sale.

The unusual photographs, which show John Lennon playing with a Box Brownie camera and him and the other band members in a car, were taken when the Fab Four were at the Askers Road House Hotel in Bridport, Dorset.

The hotel owner was also pictured with the stars and she later gave the photographs to her friend. It is her daughter who is now putting them up for auction, reports The Telegraph.

The seller, who does not wish to be identified, said: "I remember my mum being particularly excited one day. She was working in a solicitor''s office and the hotel owner arrived to tell her that The Beatles were planning to stay at the hotel.

"It was all very hush-hush, but my mother knew the owner quite well. The next thing I knew, my mother arrived home with these photographs."

Amy Brenan, from Duke''s auctioneers in Dorchester, Dorset, which is selling them, said: "These pictures show the Beatles in a relaxed mood.

"They are spur of the moment pictures and not posed up like so many that you see. They are wearing suits and in one John Lennon is playing with a Box Brownie camera and they seem happy posing with the hotel owner.

"They were taken in the mid-60s, possibly in 1966/67 because that''s when they played in Bournemouth along the coast and went down into Devon.

"The hotel owner is not with us any more so we can''t ask her exactly when they were taken, but big Beatles fans will be able to work it out I''m sure.

"Beatles memorabilia has never been more popular and although we''ve put an estimate of 30 to 60 pounds on them, I''m sure they''ll go for much more."

The sale is on August 11. (ANI)
