Britney Spears License Deliberations

The jury is out deliberating whether Britney Spears should be convicted for driving without a licence. Spears, 26, faces one count of misdemeanor, with a maximum penalty of six months jail time and fine.
At the time of her August 2007 fender bender, Britney Spears did not have a California driving licence. Arguing in her defence, in his opening statement, her lawyer Michael Flanagan claimed that Spears was a non-resident of California and, therefore did not require a California driving licence. He argued, despite owning a mansion in Beverly Hills, Spears was legally a resident of Louisiana, as she is registered to vote and pays tax in Louisiana.
Flanagan earlier rejected a plea deal for a 12-months probation and $150 fine misdemeanor conviction, as he wanted to keep her criminal record ‘squeaky clean’.
In a state where juries have acquitted the likes of OJ Simpson, Robert Blake, and did not find record producer Phil Spector guilty of shooting a woman in the face, it is most unlikely they will find Britney Spears guilty.
