CDC: RotaTeq Is Promising Protection Against Rotavirus

CDC: RotaTeq Is Promising Protection Against RotavirusThe Merck & Co.’s new vaccine known as RotaTeq could help minimize the impact of rotavirus in the United States, says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) believes that the level of protection provided by the vaccine is much stronger than they originally anticipated.

According to CDC, Rotavirus, the most common cause of both diarrhea and vomiting among children and infants in the U.S., is responsible for sending over 400,000 children to the doctors, and causing over 50 deaths every year in United States.

RotaTeq, introduced in 2006 for kids aged 2 months, 4 months, and 6 months, is a highly promising protection against the highly contagious disease – Rotavirus, says CDC.
