Chuck Hagel Questions Sarah Palin’s Credentials

Sarah Palin definitely seems to have been lucky for McCain but Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska seems to be far from satisfied with McCain’s choice of Vice President.

"She doesn't have any foreign policy credentials," Hagel said in an interview published Thursday by the Omaha World-Herald. "You get a passport for the first time in your life last year? I mean, I don't know what you can say."

McCain and other Republicans defended Palin's qualifications, using Alaska's proximity to Russia as a cover up. Palin told ABC News, "They're our next-door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska."

Hagel, a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee had traveled with Democratic candidate Barack Obama to Afghanistan in July and was even spoken of as a potential Obama running mate.
