It appears
that Sen. Hillary Clinton is not in mood to hang her boots till the end. After her decisive win in West Virginia late last night, she declared that "she was more determined than ever to continue her campaign.”
Thanking her supporters in Charleston, Clinton said, "Like the song says, it's almost heaven. I am so grateful for this overwhelming vote of confidence.”
Dismissing the increasing number of Democrats -- who say it is nearly impossible for her to pass Barack Obama, Clinton said, "They say 'give up, it's too hard, the mountain is too high,' but here in West Virginia, you know a thing or two about rough roads to the top of the mountain.”
Clinton argued for seating disputed delegates from Florida and Michigan -- states which she won. She said that she deeply admires Obama, but her case for the nomination is stronger. She asserted, "I am in this race because I believe I am the strongest candidate.”
Calling on her supporters, Clinton said, "With your help, I am ready to go head-to-head with John McCain to put our vision for America up against the one he shares with President Bush."
Arguing that she deserves the nomination because she has outperformed Obama in hotly contested general election states like Ohio and Pennsylvania, Clinton reiterated, "The bottom line is this – the White House is one in the swing states and I am winning the swing states.”
