Death Penalty possible in Michael Jacques sex-kidnap case

Death Penalty possible in Michael Jacques sex-kidnap case

Even though Vermont does not have the death penalty, Michael Jacques will remain in the danger zone and will probably face a death sentence if convicted. The 42 year old has been charged with the kidnapping of his 12 year old niece, Brooke Bennett, who was found dead near his Vermont home yesterday after she'd been missing for a week.

It seems that Jacques and his teenage lover had been plotting the kidnap for weeks so that Bennett could be initiated into an organized sex ring, according to shocking federal court documents released today.

Brooke had been last seen on June 25th on a convenience store security camera with her uncle, Michael Jacques. After that she disappeared and was later found dead. According to the federal criminal complaints, Jacques’ accomplice confessed that she had helped Jacques bring Brooke to Jacques' home after they originally left her at the Cumberland Farms store. She further told state police investigators that she had been involved in sex with Jacques since she was just 9 years old.

When she and Jacques picked up Bennett, they told Bennett that she was going to a party, the girl said to the investigators. The girl confessed to police that she knew Bennett was going to be initiated into the sex ring that day and would be having "sex with adult males," according to the federal complaints.
