Disney to re-release 4 classic animations in 3D within 2 years

Disney to re-release 4 classic animations in 3D within 2 years Washington, Oct 5 : Disney has planned to re-release four of its classic animated movies in 3D in the next two years, after the huge success of “The Lion King 3D” in its two weeks screening.

The 1994 animated tale of a lion cub was re-formatted in 3D format and topped the box office in its entire two-week run. The film is expected to cross the 80 million dollar mark and even more now that the 3D Blu-ray DVD has hit the stores.

Expecting a similar return, Walt Disney Studios has announced that it will reformat four of its classic animated movies in 3D over the next two years.

The four movies – ‘Beauty and the Beast’, Pixar’s ‘Finding Nemo’, ‘Monsters, Inc.’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’, had collectively earned almost $2 billion at the box office, and Disney believes that with today’s modern viewing technology and an entire generation who probably have never seen any of these on the big screen, it’s time that they re-introduced these classics, CBS News reported.
