E3 Showcases Next Generation Gaming

E3 Showcases Next Generation GamingThe video game industry's biggest trade event, E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) commenced on Monday (14 July - 17 July). The E3 is a platform for the biggest players in the gaming industry to showcase their best, such as consoles, games etc.

This year's event showcased some of the latest offerings in hard-core shooter games, music games, sports games and many more.

The shooting games included Resident Evil 5, God of War III, Beyond Good and Evil 2, Resistance 2, and Mad World. "Gears of War 2" was the most anticipated title in this category.

Music game category is full of music, rhythm, singing and dancing games this year. While the titles like, "Guitar Hero World Tour," "Rock Band 2," and "Konami's Rock Revolution" allow players to play real instruments, the "Lips" by Microsoft will allow you to plug your MP3 player into the console and sing songs directly from you own music library.

In the sports game category, EA sport's new "NBA Live 09" promises to take the players at a new level of realism with its "Dynamic DNA" feature. All the data, including player tendencies, scores and team dynamics, will change every 24 hours.

At E3, Microsoft said that the Xbox 360 will sell more consoles worldwide this generation, than the PlayStation3. Microsoft has already sold 20 million Xbox 360s worldwide, compared to Sony's 14 million PS3s. An announcement has already been made about slashing the price of Xbox 360 from $360 to $300.

Despite of all this gaming buzz, the critics are doubtful whether this year's event will measure up to previous E3 events or not, with "booth babes" banned this year and LucasArts and Id Software dropping out of the association. But still many gamers hope that E3 will be as exciting as it used to be.
