Washington, May 31: After completing an epic 11-day adventure in the orbit, Space Shuttle Endeavour and its crew are now scheduled to return back on Earth early on Wednesday.
If Endeavour lands Wednesday, it will have spent 299 days in space and traveled more than 122.8 million miles during its 25 flights. It launched on its first mission on May 7, 1992.
Following its 25th mission, Endeavour delivered a 2-billion-dollars cosmic ray detector that will remain on the space station for the next decade. The cosmic ray detector is searching for antimatter and dark matter, which scientists hope, will shed light on the origins of the universe.
Wednesday''s landing opportunities at NASA''s Kennedy Space Center in Florida are at 2:35 a. m. and 4:11 a. m. EDT. Endeavour''s entry flight control team led by Tony Ceccacci will evaluate weather conditions at Kennedy before permitting Endeavour to land.
NASA reportedly plans to decommission Endeavour - the sixth and last US space shuttle ever built - and send it to a museum in Los Angeles for display. (ANI)
