Washington, Nov 21 : A new study has shown that about half of US lawmakers are millionaires, and their net wealth has increased steadily since 2008 despite the recession.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics study, about 250 Congress members have an estimated net worth of over one million dollars.

The figure indicates that lawmakers comprise the wealthiest one percent of the American population, The New York Post reports.

According to the report, 37 Senate Democrats and 30 Senate Republicans have worths over one million dollars, as compared to 110 Republicans and 73 Democrats in the House of Representatives.

The report also shows that Senators comprising 2.63 million dollar net worth, are wealthier than House members. (ANI)
