Seventeen-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears, star of Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101 and younger sister of pop star, Britney Spears, gave birth to a baby girl. Born on Tuesday morning at a south Mississippi hospital, the 7 lb 11 oz baby has been named Maddie Briann, according to sources close to the Spears family.

The baby’s father is 19-year-old Casey Aldridge, a pipe-layer from Liberty, Mississippi. The couple is not married though they announced their engagement several months ago. Spears aired the news about her pregnancy through an article in OK! Magazine. She was also expected to receive a large sum in exchange for exclusive pictures of her new born baby.

On Thursday evening Nickelodeon, the channel which ran Zoey 101, issued a statement about the baby’s birth saying, “We wish her and her family well.”  In the serial Spears portrays Zoey Brooks, a student at Pacific Coast Academy, an exclusive all-boys campus till Zoey’s and her friends arrival. The filming for the fourth and final season of Zoey 101 was completed last summer before Spears became pregnant.
