The pop stud, Justin Timberlake and his girlfriend, Jessica Biel, took the stage Saturday at the Clark County Government Center amphitheater, at a public rally for Barack Obama. Timberlake performed a new version of his popular “Saturday Night Live” song “Di-- in a Box,” renaming it “Vote in a Box.”
Speaking for nearly half an hour, the duo urged fans to vote for the Democratic presidential nominee. Referring to the endorsement as the first ever by the couple, Timberlake said to the Las Vegas crowd: “We’ve never publicly endorsed before. But we’ve never been so inspired by one person.”
Biel said that the next US President will have an immense role in the future legality of abortions, owing to the huge say he will have in deciding who sits on the Supreme Court for years at a stretch. Speaking of women’s rights, she added: “Nobody should be able to say what you can do with your body.”
To give the serious topic a jocular turn, Timberlake said: “I give Jess the right to choose where we go to eat all the time,” and added: “The funny thing is, what the woman chooses is usually right.”
The troops in the Middle East also formed an important part of the couple’s discussions with the crowd. Biel opined: “One of the ways to support our troops is to bring them home.”
Furthermore, they talked about what they consider as the declining view of America in the eyes the people of other countries. Deliberating on that, Timberlake said: “You get to be where, enough is enough, you know?”
Timberlake was in town, with his supportive girlfriend, to helm the PGA’s Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, which commenced Saturday. About his presence at the Obama rally, he told the crowd: “I’m not here as some dude who writes goofy songs. Me and Jess, we’re here as Americans. We’re here as humans because this is something we had to do.”
