Washington, March 26 : Latin Americans make up the largest diaspora in the US, according to a report by the US Bureau of the Census.

According to the recent census, 50.5 million Latin Americans live in the US making up a sixth of the total US population of 308.7 million, RIA Novosti reported.

The bureau report said the number of Latin Americans residing in America has increased 43 percent over the last few decades, and has outnumbered the second largest "non-white" group of 42 million Afro-Americans.

Mexican media reports estimated that if this trend continues, the white population in the US, which currently stands at 196.8 million, will become a minority within 30 years.

Most of the Latin Americans in the US come from Mexico, Cuba and Nicaragua.(IANS)
