Letterman parodies Palin’s debate on his Late Show

Only about a month back, the ‘trademarks’ of the Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin, were spunk, lipstick and the appealing persona of a mom juggling career and family with confidence and good humor.

However, ever since her nomination as Republican John McCain’s running mate, her trademarks are Katie Couric’s embarrassment-inducing interviews on CBS News, and Tina Fey’s skewering caricatures on ‘Saturday Night Live’ - Fey is a comedian who has done a popular impersonation of Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live sketch show.

Following her much-hyped debate with rival Joe Biden, Palin once again has become the object of ridicule on ‘Late Show With David Letterman’, despite the fact that reports say it was the most watched vice presidential debate ever, with over 70 million U.S. television viewers tuned in.

Letterman, the well-known host, was already upset about McCain’s decision to cancel his appearance on the show last week. Expressing his displeasure that time, Letterman had said: “This just doesn’t smell right because this is not the way a tested hero behaves. Somebody’s putting something in his Metamucil.”

In fact, the night before the debate, Letterman had devoted his top 10 Wednesday night to “Things Overheard at Sarah Palin’s Debate Camp,” in which one of the remarks says: “Any way we can just get Tina Fey to do it?”

The Late show about Palin, a take on Thursday’s debate at Washington University in St. Louis, has Letterman ‘cutting’ some of her words to give them a new, interesting meaning.

Announcing that he had some messages from Palin for America, the veteran talk host aired some edited footages of Palin talking. The parodies are presented in such a manner that Palin appears to be saying “I will tell Americans straight up that I don’t know what a Vice President does”, and also “I have no experience. John McCain should get rid of me.”
