Mackenzie Philips Charged With Narcotics Possession

Mackenzie Phillips, Former "One Day at Time" television star, was charged on Wednesday with felony possession of cocaine and heroin, after she was allegedly found carrying narcotics at Los Angeles International Airport.
Los Angeles Prosecutors also charged Philips, 48, with illicit possession of a hypodermic needle or syringe. She is out on $10,000 bail waiting for the first court hearing in October.
Police arrested Phillips after she went through airport security screening at Los Angeles airport. According to the police she had a "small amount" of drugs packaged in balloons and plastic bags.
Philips is the eldest daughter of John Phillips, late founder of The Mamas and the Papas pop group. She was sacked from "One Day at a Time" in 1982, after she reverted to drugs after undergoing drug rehabilitation for some time.
Phillips has also starred as a rock star mom in the Disney Channel series "So Weird."
