‘Beverley Hills Chihuahua’’s long reign at the box office has ended, with Mark Wahlberg’s action film ‘Max Payne’ pushing it to second place.
Grossing $18-million in its premiere show, ‘Max Payne’ out performed ‘W.’, Oliver Stone’s film biography of George W. Bush, whose $10.6-million opening saw it finish in fourth place. ‘The Secret Life of Bees’, a sweet as honey Southern drama grabbed the third spot making $11.1-million.
Hollywood revenues continue to rise with the top 12-movies raking in $86.4-million, up 10% from the same weekend last year.
