You can now receive the first service pack for your operating system via the Microsoft Automatic Update service. Yes, Microsoft yesterday afternoon stated that it’s going forward with plans to deploy Windows Vista Service Pack 1 via Automatic Updates.
According to the Redmond, Washington based software giant, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will be downloaded automatically to PCs that have the automatic update feature of the OS turned on. Previously, Vista was available to customers via Windows Update, but people had to specifically download it.
However, Vista SP1 via Automatic Update will not be immediately available for all customers. Only some Vista users with Automatic Updates turned on will begin to see SP1 downloaded automatically. But, the company will be distributing it in phases to "ensure a seamless download experience, said Microsoft.
Microsoft spokesperson said, "While Microsoft is beginning automatic distribution today, it's important to note that customers might not see the update download right away since Microsoft is distributing the Service Pack in phases to ensure a seamless download experience."
SP1 is a rollout of software updates that fix bugs and glitches in Vista and is seen as a milestone that will inspire many customers -- especially those in the business market -- to adopt the OS.
