Nerf Blasters, a toy manufactured by Hasbro, has been voluntarily recalled as a child’s skin could get caught in the moving parts.
Hasbro says the problem is in the toy’s movable plunger which could pull the users skin while firing the toy, causing bruising, cuts, blood blisters, and welts on the face, neck, and chest.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission there have been 46 reports of injuries to children between the ages of 4-12.
The problem is in the Nerf N-Strike Recon CS6 Blaster and the problem is only in the toys whose blasters have the orange plungers. The word "NERF" appears in black letters on both sides of the toy, the word "ARMED" is indented on the orange plunger, and "RECON CS-6" is on the gray cocking mechanism. The model number is 63552 and the UPC codes are 653569272021 and 653569311218. Consumers are asked to take the toy away from children.
The toy is made in China and sold at Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, discount stores and toy stores from November 2007 to August 2008 for about $20. Hasbro can be contacted for a free cover to prevent additional injuries.
