After a long period of mutual silence, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton have finally reached a consensus following a phone call from Obama to Clinton. The telephone conversation between the two men lasted for about 20 minutes. This was their first conversation since the end of the fiery primaries.
In this conversation, Clinton agreed to campaign for Obama, his one time Democratic nemesis. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has been supporting Obama for quite some time now but the relationship between Obama and Clinton had remained strained till this phone call. They hadn't spoken until Obama called Clinton on Monday, after landing in Missouri for a campaign stop.
Clinton's communications director, Matt McKenna, described the call as "a very good conversation" and said that Clinton has renewed his offer to do whatever he can to help Sen. Obama win the presidential race.
Obama spokesman, Bill Burton said, “Senator Obama had a terrific conversation with President Clinton and is honored to have his support in this campaign. He has always believed that Bill Clinton is one of this nation’s great leaders and most brilliant minds, and looks forward to seeing him on the campaign trail and receiving his counsel in the months to come.”
