Obama, Mccain Promise To Fix Nation’s Healthcare Problems Healthcare is a priority on Obama and McCain’s list. The presidential candidates want to improve the Healthcare system at a cost of more than $1 trillion over the next decade. Both the candidates have different plans for fixing the Healthcare problems. Obama plans to spread insurance cover.

According to statistics, nearly 46 million Americans are uninsured. Obama plans to get another 34 million people insured at an estimated cost of $ 1.6 trillion. A Government- operated insurance program would be initiated for large employers to ensure insurance of their employees. It would be mandatory for parents to insure their children.

On the other hand, McCain's plan is targets to increase consumer choice and bring down insurance prices. His plan aims at encouraging people who already have insurance through their employers to purchase individual policies available in the open market. To achieve his goal, McCain plans to impose new taxes on employer-provided health benefits whereas individual tax buyers would get tax breaks. The idea behind the plan is to compel employers to buy individual insurance plans for their employees.

The Tax Center estimates show that Obama’s  plan would get another 34 million people insured at an estimated cost of $ 1.6 trillion but McCain's plan would cost $1.3 trillion but would reduce the number of uninsured by just 5 million.
