Washington, Dec 12 : A new poll has shown that over the three in four Americans think that most Congress members do not deserve to be re-elected.
The Gallup data showed that anti- incumbent Congress sentiment is the highest in the past 19 years.
The results came in the wake of other Gallup polls showing that congressional approval rating has reached nine percent thus indicating that voters are dissatisfied with the 112th US Congress.
Seventy-six percent of respondents said most lawmakers do not deserve to be re-elected, as compared to 20 percent, who endorsed the contrary view, The Washington Post reports.
According to the poll, 82 percent of Independents, 75 percent of Republicans and 68 percent of Democrats said most American lawmakers do not deserve to be re-elected.
The poll found that anti- incumbent sentiment has climbed up sharply since May when 63 percent endorsed a similar view.
The voters, however, reported a better sentiment regarding the re-election of their own representatives.
Fifty-three percent of respondents said their own House member deserves re- election, while 39 percent held the contrary view.
The poll interviewed 903 registered American voters between November 28 and December 1. (ANI)
