David Letterman downplays jihad threat with jokes, ‘Top 10’ thoughtsNew York, Aug 23: David Letterman, who reportedly received death threats from an online jihadist, has joked about the issue and has prepared a `Top Ten' list of thoughts that went through his mind after the incident.

The late-night funnyman came out strong with a series of jokes about the incident in his first CBS `Late Show' taping since word got out there was a threat on his life.

"I have a fatwa on me. And they say the guy that issued the fatwa is an Internet jihadist. Internet jihadist, and I said, `Well, heck, who says Obama isn't creating jobs?'" the New York Daily News quoted him as joking.

The comedian has tightened security at the Manhattan theatre where he tapes his late night television talk show, `Late Show with David Letterman'.

According to the New York Post, a source said that additional security precautions have been taken at the Ed Sullivan Theater after a Muslim extremist called for Letterman's tongue to be cut out on Shumuka al-Islam
forum, a popular Internet destination for radical Muslims.

The Site Monitoring Service, a private intelligence organization that watches online activity, said the threat was posted on the Shumuka al-Islam forum, a popular Internet destination for radical Muslims.

The contributor, who identified himself as Umar al-Basrawi, was reacting to what he said Letterman did after the US military announced that Al-Qaeda leader Ilyas Kashmiri had been killed in a drone strike in Pakistan on June 5.
