Washington, Jan 14 : A criminal trial of former US Democratic presidential contender John Edwards has been delayed as he has ben diagnosed with a heart problem that requires medical attention.

Judge Catherine Eagles allowed the delay of the trial after receiving two letters from Edwards’ cardiologist detailing the nature of the heart trouble.

The trial is now scheduled to begin on March 26, but might be delayed even further. Edwards’ lawyers had argued that their client has been unable to prepare for trial in the past month.

Washington, June 4 : Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards was indicted Friday on charges that money donated to his failed campaign for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination was used instead to conceal an extramarital affair.

A federal grand jury in North Carolina charged the 57-year-old Edwards with conspiracy, illegal campaign contributions and making false statements, the Justice Department said.

Edwards is accused of having used campaign contributions from two wealthy donors to support mistress Rielle Hunter and the couple's now three-year-old daughter.

Washington, Jan 08: Ex-North Carolina senator John Edwards has denied reports that he is getting married to his longtime mistress Rielle Hunter.

Responding to the National Enquirer’s story that Edwards got engaged to the mother of his lovechild just weeks after the death of his wife, Elizabeth, a source close to the former presidential candidate said that he is denying such claims.

“John Edwards says the story is false,” the Politico quoted the source as saying.

The Jan. 17 issue of the Enquirer said that the couple might tie the knot some time this summer.

Washington, Jan 07: If reports are to be believed, then ex-North Carolina senator John Edwards has got engaged to his longtime mistress Rielle Hunter.

The Jan. 17 issue of the National Enquirers has said that the Former presidential candidate asked the mother of his lovechild to marry him only three weeks after burying his wife, Elizabeth, who died from cancer.

The couple is said to be tying the knot some time this summer.

"I do know that I love him and that love is till death do us part, and probably beyond," the Politico quoted Hunter as recently telling GQ magazine.

Washington, Jan 6: Elizabeth Edwards, who lost her 6-year battle with breast cancer on Dec. 7, left estranged hubby John Edwards out of her will.

The late author/health care activist left everything to her children and made not a single mention of her philandering husband John in the will, reports the Politico.

In a last will and testament dated Dec. 1, Edwards made clear that her three children were to be the beneficiaries of her estate with the former vice presidential candidate and North Carolina senator's name appearing nowhere.

Washington, April 25 : A major environmental disaster was looming in the Gulf of Mexico as US Coast Guard officials confirmed Saturday that the well under the site of an oil rig disaster was leaking.

Petty Officer John Edwards told CNN that 1,000 barrels of oil - about 168,000 litres - were seeping from at least two places on the floor of the Gulf under the site.

One of the leaks was at the actual well site, while a second leak was from a pipe connected to the well. The Coast Guard has been using robotic cameras to search the area over the past several days, and until Saturday had found no evidence of a leak. (DPA)

According to reports, Edwards proposed last month, shortly before he issued a statement claiming paternity of the couple''s two-year-old daughter, Frances Quinn.

Edward''s cancer-stricken wife, Elizabeth, has also confirmed that they have separated- paving the way for him to marry Rielle.

According to the tabloid The National Enquirer which exposed the scandal in October 2007, the mistress who served Edwards' video-grapher during his presidential campaignme has agreed to his proposal. Quoting a source, The Enquirer said, "John has proposed to Rielle (Hunter), and she said yes.''

Edwards admitted last week that he had fathered Hunter''s child, Francis Quinn.

Washington, January 28 : Former U. S senator John Edwards and wife Elizabeth may soon get a divorce.

Elizabeth’s friend Andrea Purse has revealed that the attorney wants to move on in life after Edwards admitted that he had fathered a child with campaign videographer Rielle Hunter.

"Elizabeth is moving on with her life and wants to put this difficult chapter behind her," the Washington Post quoted Purse as telling People magazine.

Also, Elizabeth''s sister Nancy Anania said: "She said, ''I''ve had it. I can''t do this. I want my life back. I hear peace in her voice that I haven''t heard in a long time."

Washington, Jan. 22 : Former Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards has finally admitted fathering an illegitimate child with a campaign staffer, while his wife battled cancer.

The baby was conceived with former campaign worker Rielle Hunter just two months after his wife Elizabeth learned she had incurable cancer in March 2007.

“I am Quinn''s father. I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves,” The Telegraph quoted Edwards, as saying.

He also acknowledged that he had reached a financial agreement with the child''s mother to cover up the illicit affair.

“It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter, and hopefully one day, when she understands, she will forgive me,” he added.

Two weeks ago John Edwards was caught by The National Enquirer at the Beverly Hills visiting his mistress, Rielle Hunter, and the illegitimate child they had together. After being caught on the wrong foot by Enquirer reporters, and seeing the flash of photographers' cameras, Edwards took refuge in men's bathroom, where he hid until security escorted him out of the building.

Sen. John Edwards, the former Democratic presidential candidate, was reportedly spotted with his long-rumored mistress Rielle Hunter and their supposed love child at a Los Angeles hotel Monday.

Edwards was in town for a press event with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on how to combat homelessness. Hunter had apparently driven to Los Angeles from Santa Barbara with a male friend to meet with Edwards. Edwards reportedly arrived on Monday evening and stayed through until the wee hours of the morning, reported a tabloid.

In the middle of the controversy about who's going to be the running mate of the Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards has expressed his willingness.
