Gingrich accused of patronising ‘Lady’ Bachmann in final Republican debateWashington, Dec 17: Former House of Representatives Speaker and 2012 White House contender Newt Gingrich has been accused of patronising Michele Bachmann during the final debate before the Republican primary contest voting.

Bachmann alleged that Gingrich made millions of dollars as a Washington "consultant" after leaving Congress and supported a "barbaric" abortion procedure in the 1990s.

"Sometimes Congresswoman Bachmann doesn''t get her facts very accurate," Gingrich countered her allegations and told her to stop making "wild accusations".

Gingrich owed upto 500,000 dollars to TiffanyWashington, May 18: In 2005 and 2006, former US House Speaker turned presidential candidate Newt Gingrich was in debt to the tune of 500,000 dollars. He owed the money to premier jewelry company, Tiffany.

The six-figure debt was reported on congressional financial disclosure forms in 2005 and 2006 filed by Gingrich''s wife, Callista, who worked for the House Agriculture Committee until 2007.

The disclosure listed the liability as a "revolving charge account" and indicated it was her spouse''s debt, Politico reports.

The liability was reported in the range of 250,001 dollars to 500,000 dollars.
