Police Captures New Bedford Man For Fatal Stabbing

The Police officials yesterday nabbed a New Bedford man responsible for the fatal stabbing of a 30-year-old man during a fight outside a Fairhaven VFW. According to the police, stabbing that took place on Friday outside the VFW, left one man dead and two in critical condition.
Acording to Fairhaven Police Chief Gary Souza, Joshua Fitzgerald died Saturday morning at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston following the attack that left his brother and another man with serious stab wounds; at Rhode Island Hospital. The wounded were being treated at Rhode Island Hospital.
According to the police chief, Carmelo Lopez, 24-years-old young man of 1305 Pleasant St., New Bedford, was arrested at his Pleasant St. home on charges of assault with intent to murder on Sunday. The man was captured was by New Bedford police detectives without incident at his residence Sunday morning. Mr. Lopez was the second person to be charged. David LeBlanc, 25, of 8 Stasson Road, Fairhaven, was charged with obstruction of justice. More arrests are likely.
Police reported that they responded at about 10:40 p.m. Friday to reports of a large fight outside the VFW, which was hosting a "Hip Hop Night." They say they found Williams collapsed on the street. The arrested men will be produced in the New Bedford District Courton on the Monday Morning.
