Washington, Dec 26 : Police in the US state of Utah shot and killed an armed man

outside a Mormon temple on Christmas Day, the Salt Lake City Tribune reported.

Police had responded to a call about an altercation outside the worship site in South Jordan, Utah, south of Salt Lake City, Saturday when they found the man armed with a shotgun.

When he refused to put down his gun, police shot him out of concern for the safety of people nearby, the newspaper reported.

A cache of other weapons was found in the man's car.

Though the incident occurred on Christmas, the church was closed.(DPA)
