Poll: Obama Ahead Of McCain By A WhiskerAccording to the Newsweek poll conducted on Wednesday, Obama leads McCain 44% to 41%. In the magazine’s last survey, done in June, Obama had a 15 point lead.

Many of the people questioned in the poll are of opinion that Obama has been changing his positions on some key issues. Seventy percent of Hillary Clinton’s supporters said that they'll support Obama, but McCain appears to have a slight edge among independents and a 12-point lead with whites. Obama is ahead by nearly 50 points among minorities.

The Newsweek poll was conducted from July 9-10 thru telephone interviews with 1,037 registered voters. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
